Lumigan (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03%) is a prescription only
medication and contains the active ingredient bimatoprost and, in aesthetics, is used
to enhance the eyelashes.
There are different phases in the eyelash growth cycle and the more time lashes
spend in the ‘growth phase’ of the cycle crucially impacts the lash length. It is
thought that bitmatoprost prolongs the duration of the growth phase, maximising
eyelash growth. Use of bimatoprost has been shown to enhance growth of
eyelashes and make them up to 25% longer, 106% thicker and 18% darker in clinical
trials and published papers.
